What is this? the doctor has no idea?

Friday, October 31st, 2008

Im 20 y old, male. About 10 days ago I had to go to the doctor for symptoms of UTI (frequent urination, burning). He gave me antibiotics and had my urine cultured and my blood analysed. We did the culture twice and found nothing in my urine nor in my blood. So the doctor has no idea what it could be. Help

Nicedoc is perhaps a tad too nice, but correct. My guess is that they got the urine specimen before you were tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia. That's very common but a mistake, as the urine stream washes out enough of the bugs to decrease the sensitvity of the test. Also, you (thank goodness!) didn't mention it, but I'd hope you got a finger up your butt to check for prostatitis.
The most important thing to remember is that women have a natural tendency to equate your problem with theirs. This includes nurses who want to get a urine specimen prematurely, a nearly universal affliction of the nursing profession. Men simply don't get bladder infections, so you'll need to ignore the opinions of women who aren't doctors. It's a peculiar situation, but one I've run into routinely over the years.

Causes of (frequent urination) and symptoms.?

25 year old male, 185lbs, 5'11" tall relatively good health never a problem before. Diagnosed with high blood pressure once before (approximately 140/75) was latter determined to be lab coat syndrome.

Half to pee about once every half hour, very little pee comes out, mild irritation of the penis, sort of a very mild burning sensation about every other time subject pees.
Feels like I have to go again within like ten minutes of peeing, even though there doesn't seem to be much in the bladder.
Also weird unusual smell accompanies pee, about every third time.

Thinking possibly a UTI, wondering if there is a home test or if it could be anything else, never had this happen before, so not much to compare to.

Yeah, sounds like a UTI.

No home test.

If you don't feel like going to a doc, cranberry juice should clear it right up.

Just have a glass or cranberry juice every half hour or so, will be gone in under an hour

Kitty using bed as litterbox?

Friday, October 31st, 2008

I have a 4 month old kitten that wont stop peeing on the bed. He goes #2 in the litterbox (which is cleaned daily) but insists on peeing on the bed. This happens about once or twice a week (everytime I wash the sheets). He doesnt have an uniary tract infection or any other infections (he just came from the vet). I called the vet and she said it could be the antihystimine that he was on for his cold. Hes been off this for 2 weeks now. Any ideas? Please dont tell me to take him to the vet because like I said…he just came from there after having a complete wellness panel done (he was an adoption).

I know this might sound totally strange but, I think it is because the cat would like two litter boxes.
It is the most unusal thing, but a friend of my mom was telling my mom and I a few months ago about her kitten. The kitten would also go number 2 in the box, and then go pee somewhere else. She told us she was getting crazy trying to find out why when then she came up with a idea. She gave the cat another litter box, so the cat had two. The cat then did number 2 in one box, and pee in the other, no more on the furniture. This could be the same with your cat, some cats are just fussy that way I guess, just like people.

Best of luck.
