What should i do about my cystitis this time?!?

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

I suffer from cystitis, a lot. It all seems to be triggered by sex, which is horrible. I last had a bladder infection only a few weeks ago :( and now i have it again! This bout of cystitis i know is from sex because i had sex with my boyfriend for the first time in a few weeks just two nights ago, and now the infection has come back.

I started suffering from cystitis when i began going out with my bf, and its horrible because I cant sleep with him without suffering the consequences (a bladder infection). i’ve been to the doctors hundreds of times in the past few months, and have been on 3 courses of antibiotics for this problem.

My question that I’m asking is, as it’s so close to christmas, when shall i get an appointment at the doctors? because i refuse to be on medication during xmas!! i really do not want to go to the doctors AGAIN, because i literally have just got rid of my last infection and its actually beginning to ruin my life… so another question is do any home remedies actually work?? is there a way i can cure this cystitis by myself? i am becoming desperate now, and its annoying because i do go to the loo after sex, and i take cranberry capsules daily, and it has had no effect on me :( someone please give me advice on all this! why cant life just be simple and nice…

Have a wee immediately after sex – this flushes out any bugs that have been shoved into your urethra and reduces the chance of cystitis occurring.

Do you check your wee colour regularly? It should always be pale yellow – if it’s dark yellow then you’re dehydrated which significantly increases the risk of cystitis.

I think the cranberry juice will be better than capsules.

I’d just go back to the GP’s if I were you!

What could be causing my overactive bladder problems? any insight!?

I’m 24 years old and for the last 8-12 months I’ve been having overactive bladder problems. I have other symptoms that could be thyroid related and I’ve already gotten 3 opinions on that. My levels for that are low-normal. A 4th opinion will be in my future, as I know even OPRAH had to get a lot of opinions before finding a true answer.

Anyways, I’m really not sure what could be causing it. I visited a Urologist and had some tests preformed. he found that after I void there is still a decent amount of urine in my bladder, so when I leave the restroom it’s not long 5 minutes or less before I need to go again. He did a cystoscopy and did not find any signs of IC (interstital cystitis), so he put me on Vesicare for my frequency problems. initially the 5mg helped, but I recently increased to 10mg and I’m finding no relief at this point. I’, beginning to wonder if my problems are related to other medications I’m on.

I’m currently on:
Lamictal for moods (something that can be related to thyroid if that ends up being the issue.)
Klonopin for Anxiety. A very small dose. half a .5mg tablet 2x a day.
Ortho Evra birth control patch. been on it 6 years, not sure if it could be related?!?!
and other than that I’m on vitamin D because I live in an area with little sun and fish oil to help with seasonal depression. both of these I started AFTER the bladder problems had already been happening.

Does anyone have any insight or ideas that I could investigate or present to my doctors? I’m really at my wit’s end and I already have anxiety, which is only exacerbated by the frequency because I have to pull over to use restrooms when I’m out and I no longer go very far from home because it’s too hard.

HELP!!!!!!!

sounds like IBS

Female dog went pee in the house but she is house trained?!?

Last night my dog (2 year old female)just went pee all over a bean bag chair in our living room in front of us, she never even asked to go out. she had gone potty on it as a young puppy, but thats been a few years ago) I cleaned it really well with dog accident cleaner that has enzymes in it. tonight i found some more pee on the chair, but not as much and it is hard to say wether or not it was the female dog or my male puppy (who is 6 months old and hasn’t had an accident in a few months).
could she be mad about something and just retaliating against us by peeing on stuff? or could this be a symptom of a UTI or bladder infection?
Thanks!
Thank you i know a vet can tell me this, however all the vets offices are closed and i was hoping to get some insight as to if anyone else has had this problem and what could possibly be wrong with her
Thank you amanda :-)

it is probably the male starting to mark his territory. Have him neutered. Have her spayed too would be best. also the female may have a urinary tract infection.
