My dog lola has spots of blood in her wee?
She suffers from cystitis and visits the vets quite a lot but Is she in season ? She is 9 months old. How long does she last in season and how often? what age do they start? Do they bleed a lot? i have always had dogs and stuck with this one.
Looks like she’s about the right age. If she is in heat, her vulva will swell up quite a bit. If she is, she will be in heat for about 3 weeks. About one week of heavier spotting, but she can get bred even when she’s not(spotting), so keep a close eye on her for those three weeks.
She will come into season every six months (kinda depends on her breed, larger dogs sometimes go a little longer between). If you do not plan on breeding her, just a month or two after this heat would be a great time to have her fixed (this might even help with her urinary problems, check with your vet),
Anyway, good luck. If you are familiar with her cystitis, then I am assuming that the blood you are seeing is not what you normally see when she is having urinary problems.
according to my dog manual if there is blood in the pee or poo then you shoundnt worry too much but take a sample and her to the vets to be sure.

AT her age and if she hasn’t been in heat prior to now then I would say, yes, she is in heat. A female dog usually comes into heat about every six months. Each heat cycle will last from three to five weeks, approximately. Each dog is different in how much they bleed. Your dog may only bleed a minimal amounth while another dog may bleed quite a bit more – same as with women and their periods. A dog’s heat cycle is as follows:
The bitch’s cycle is divided into four periods.
Proestrus: The female attracts males, has a bloody vaginal discharge and her vulva is swollen. Proestrus lasts approximately nine days; the female, however, will not allow coitus at this time.

Hi ya I had the same query just a few days a ago and hoped my dog was on heat but I took her to the vet and unfortunatly she had a uti and that was spots of blood in her wee. Do you see the blood at the beggining or the end of urination? as if its at the end it more likely to be an infection. My poor little girl wasn’t showing any behavior changes but she still had a high temp and needed antibiotics asap!

she will bleed for the first week, then once that is over she stops but she can be mated then so be very careful, get her dressed 3 months from now, but she may have a urine infection so get her chk by a vet

A dog can go into season at 9 months and I think its around a week for the bleeding you could use a diaper around the house, but I’d get her spayed and never have to worry about it again. Plus your not planning on breeding her are you? Cystitis?

dear miss i suggest you check the dogs motions for small holes, that sounds like pin worm infestation in the urinary tract. 100 percent fatal in most cases.you must keep the dog in the garden and avoild all contact untill you are sure the dog is ok. look for unusual retching noises

I would get your dog to the vet as this my be a problem with its liver or kidneys or some sort of internal bleeding so hurry up get it to the vet fast S.A.P

Not it the blood is actually in the urine. That is more liekly to be a kidney or bladder problem.
When a bitch comes on heat, she will leaes drops af blood all over he house and yard, not just in her urine. When you have a period it isn’t just in your wee – it doens’t even come out of the same hole. The principal is the same. If the blood is in the urine – get her to the vet ASAP.
