UTI Remedy Report

Any advice on cystitis / pain relief / remedy?

My friend has cystitis and has been to the doctor and got antibiotics, she missed 1 day but apart from that she is on track with taking them… she has just called me up and she said she is in agony still and has been drinking water and no alchol like advised… i have never had it so i don’t know how bad it actually is but she is not a wimp or a hypochondriac, in fact its out of character for her to complain so much! she doesn’t need to go to the hospital but does need some advice if anyone can help, a quick remedy or pain reliever is what i’m hoping for, anything at all that may help her? !

Missing one day’s antibiotics wasn’t very clever. Gives the bacteria time to regroup.
Try a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda in a tumbler of water, only once or twice a day.
Wipe from front to back.
Wipe with the above solution after sex or a wee.
If it doesn’t clear return to see your doctor and be honest about the missed antibiotics.

Bladder Problem. Possibly Interstitial Cystitis?

You’ll be told cranberry juice – but in all honesty it’s too late for that, cranberry is a preventative, not a cure. Cystitis can be extremely painful – I have a friend who suffers terribly and can only find comfort sitting in a shallow bath to pee (tmi I know but it’s really that bad!). The only thing your friend can do is keep taking the tablets but they really should have kicked in after 24hrs if they were going to be effective. Poor thing has my sympathy – she’ll have to go back to the doctor I’m afraid :-(

Cranberry juice is the best advice without taking any medicine!

Probably after checking with a pharmacist first, she could some over the counter sachet drinks you can buy for that, its easily sorted. :)
