Will I ever stop getting water infections/cystitis?

by admin January 3rd, 2010. Filed under: cystitis relief.

I am prone to chronic water infections and cystitis. The problem happened when I started dating my new boyfriend. If we have sex quite frequently (which we do), my bladder swells up and I have that feeling of needing to go to the toilet when I don’t. I’m forever on antibiotics and cystitis relief (when it’s more of a minor problem), but I was just wondering if this spell will eventually fizzle out and my body will get used to it? My auntie was a similar sufferer and after a while her body adjusted to things.

The doctor has offered me antibotics to take after everytime I have sex, but my friends have told me that this will just weaken my immune system and eventually I’ll become immune to the medicine.

It really gets me down, as I didn’t used to be like this with my previous partner whom I dated for 4 years, however we didn’t have sex half as much!

Any info really appreciated, thanks guys!

and cranberry juice/capsules hasn’t help. in response to the harsh response below, I have high hygiene standards and follow all doctors advice. i was just wondering what the chances are of this problems phasing out. My body does cope with the infections much better than it previous has.
i forgot to mention, i urinate immediately after sex and drink plenty of water before and after, and throughout the day.

your behavior is what is causing your infections. You must urinate immediately after sex, to clear the bacteria stirred up from sex away from your urethra. That one simple step will prevent sex related bladder infections. Repeated infections over time will damage your bladder and you become incontinent, unable to control when you pee, and you end up wearing a diaper for the rest of your life.
Seriously, this can happen in your twenties and thirties if you aren’t more careful about prevention.
Repeated use of antibiotics will make the bacteria you carry resistant over time, and then nothing will work to clear the infections. Be smarter than your statement here has shown you to be. A simple thing like urinating immediately after sex can save you from a lifetime of misery.
