How long does cystitis usually last – WITHOUT antibiotics?
I've had it 8 days now & it's not getting any worse or particularly any better.
I dunno why everyone's so keen to jump onto antibiotics all the time, I think they're what gave me this in the first place. SO, without them – how long will my cystitis last? I've cut out sugary drinks, caffiene, alcohol etc. & I'm drinking loads.
First off, why do u think that antibiotics gave u your cystitis…what's your evidence? Do u get cystitis every time you take antibiotics? How do you even know you have cystitis?
Also, there are many types of cystitis so it is difficult to answer your question. The most common type is one that is caused by a bacterial infection…and can USUALLY only be cured with antibiotics. If you do have an infection in your bladder, if not treated, it can lead to pyelonephritis (a kidney infection), which will make you very ill, and could eventually lead to urosepsis which can easily kill you. In light of all that, I would be "keen" on taking antibiotics.

a few weeks for most people as long as you dont mess with it.

the UTI will eventually turn into a kidney infection if it is not treated. If it is not treated as a kidney infection then it could very likely turn into sepsis which can kill you. Cutting out sugery drinks, caffiene, and alcohol can only HELP PREVENT a UTI. You NEED antibiotics. All of the other over the counter junk PREVENTS a UTI it DOES NOT CURE one! Two different words with two different meanings. Antibiotics are the only thing that will CURE an infection. That is why everyone is so keen to jump into antibiotics. If you don't, the UTI WILL turn into something more serious eventually. Personally, I would rather get it treated now when I feel ok, then a week from now when I have a kidney infection and have a fever of 102 and throwing up sick. Your call though. However, you will eventually need the antibiotics or you will end up in the hospital.
edit: an antibiotic CANNOT give you a UTI. It can give you intestinal issues or a yeast infection, but that is all. The UTI came from you.
