I suffer from cystitis, a lot. It all seems to be triggered by sex, which is horrible. I last had a bladder infection only a few weeks ago
and now i have it again! This bout of cystitis i know is from sex because i had sex with my boyfriend for the first time in a few weeks just two nights ago, and now the infection has come back.
I started suffering from cystitis when i began going out with my bf, and its horrible because I cant sleep with him without suffering the consequences (a bladder infection). i’ve been to the doctors hundreds of times in the past few months, and have been on 3 courses of antibiotics for this problem.
My question that I’m asking is, as it’s so close to christmas, when shall i get an appointment at the doctors? because i refuse to be on medication during xmas!! i really do not want to go to the doctors AGAIN, because i literally have just got rid of my last infection and its actually beginning to ruin my life… so another question is do any home remedies actually work?? is there a way i can cure this cystitis by myself? i am becoming desperate now, and its annoying because i do go to the loo after sex, and i take cranberry capsules daily, and it has had no effect on me
someone please give me advice on all this! why cant life just be simple and nice…
Have a wee immediately after sex – this flushes out any bugs that have been shoved into your urethra and reduces the chance of cystitis occurring.
Do you check your wee colour regularly? It should always be pale yellow – if it’s dark yellow then you’re dehydrated which significantly increases the risk of cystitis.
I think the cranberry juice will be better than capsules.
I’d just go back to the GP’s if I were you!

That’s because he has given you an STD (Sexually transmitted disease)
Drink loads of water and go to the clinic with your BF

it is sex so , you have to try eliminate the possible causes, you must make sure your boyfriend cleaned his equipment properly all of it ,he needs the pull back the fore skin and wash , it sounds harsh but its not ,bacteria can hide and multiply any where.also you should wash / shower after sex ,bit of a nuisance yes , but if it stops days of discomfort , its worth it, your boyfriend should understand

Maybe there is a walk-in clinic, like CVS Minute Clinic or something? They would test you for a UTI and give the appropriate antibiotics. Antibiotics aren’t that hard to be on during Christmas (I have been on antibiotics for a year and they don’t affect me much at all) and they might help you to feel better.
You might also try Vitamin C, increased water consuption, uva ursi, etc.
"The mainstay of prevention is to keep the urine dilute by drinking fluids and urinating often. Added water consumption during an infection will help flush out the problem bacteria. Repeated infections may require that routine water consumption be increased to prevent their recurrence."

"The urine pH is often elevated in times of bacterial infection but can be lowered by some medications or unbuffered vitamin C. This produces a less favorable growth environment for some bacteria."

"Uva ursi (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi) is a herb that is used as a folk remedy for certain types of urinary tract infection. The active component, arbutin, appears to be broken down and then excreted in the kidneys, where it appears to have antiseptic properties."
